The Town of Port Elgin offers many activities for vacationers. Its beautiful, sandy beach is safe for swimming. There is a wonderful harbour, parkland, promenades, gazebos, playgrounds and picnic areas. Kiddie Train ride at the Beach. Scuba Diving from Groundhog Divers. Take a tour of the Chantry Island Lighthouse in Southampton. There are many boutiques and shops, as well as casual and fine dining. Spend a day at one of the many craft and antique shows in the area.
Spend a day enjoying nature at its best. Saugeen First Nations Amphitheatre Gardens in Southampton. Go horseback riding, or visit the RailTrail. Visit MacGregor Point Provincial Park just south of Port Elgin and enjoy the Huron Fringe Birding Festival in May/June. There's great fishing as well. Cast your line during the Family Fishing Derby, or the Chantry Fishing Derby held each year.
Enjoy Live Theatre at the Old Church in Port Elgin, or take a Boat Cruise thru Off Shore Adventures.

Take the kids to Story Book Park, just south of Owen Sound and enjoy amusement rides, water slide, playground, animals and other attractions. The Bruce County Museum & Archives in Southampton has exhibits for all ages. Take a daytrip to the Village of Paisley, known as "The Heritage Village, Canoe Capital, Bridge Town", and enjoy fabulous architecture, historic buildings, shopping and fantastic river access.
Visit in the fall and enjoy the world renowned Port Elgin Pumpkinfest, held in October. The Big Band Festival is also held every fall. In winter, enjoy some of the best snowmobile trails and ski trails.
